Real Party Animals of Mardi Gras

There are a variety of other Mardi Gras events with animal krewes. I wrote about two of the more well known animal krewes yesterday but thought you might like to check out these as well.

Because King Gumbo XI makes me smile I thought I would start with the Mystic Krewe of Chiens who will parade in downtown Lafayette on Saturday, February 14th at 2:00pm. Their theme this year is Love is in the Hair and the costume contest starts off the festivities at 1:00pm.

The 10th Annual CAAWS Mystic Krewe of Mutts Mardi Gras Dog Parade will be held on Sunday, February 15th at 2:00pm in Baton Rouge, Lousiana with the theme of PawRaiders of the Lost Bark.

Krewe of Barkus & Meoux has the theme of Be Mine Fur-Ever and will parade on Sunday, February 15th at 3:00pm although the festivities will begin at 1:30pm at Riverview Park in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Krewe of Arfeous will parade on Sunday, February 22nd at 2:00pm with the theme of Indiana Bones & the Kingdom of the Hairy Paw in the Village of Baytowne Wharf in Florida!

The Krewe of Paws held their event on February 7th but you can view the photos of the Krewe of Paws Mardi Gras Pet Parade 2009.

Do you know of any others I should add to this list? If so, leave a comment below.

There is something wonderful when you hear about an older dog winning the Westminster Dog Show. I enjoyed hearing that he has been living at home being a dog after almost losing his life.

Read more about Stump’s absence from the show ring and I love the photo of Stump and Scott. You can see another one in this article about of Stump and the Westminster Dog Show.
