It is so hard to believe that we are half way through 2010 but it is true.
Locally, we were glad to finally stop having temperatures in the 30s and enter into weather that actually was warmer than 40s during the day.
Memorial Day weekend was the nicest weather so far this year. The weather has been in the 70s and the nights have been a lot warmer.

Last month I heard from the Oprah online crew. They are getting ready to launch a new network in January of 2011.
Hope to get an audition tape in but I sadly had a bit of a relapse and so have delayed to see if I can get my energy back up. (Yes, it is getting old—to say the least.)
I also applied for a grant for the Pet Parenting School. You’ll be happy to know I am working on the project—and I’ll be asking you for some input soon!

2. Discussion for the Month

So now that summer seems to be arriving, just a reminder to take care when you take pets out with you.
Hot asphalt and sidewalks can hurt those paw pads and some animals can get sun burnt noses from too much exposure.
Ample water, walks during the early morning or late evening hours are two ways to avoid heat issues.
But a lot of people forget about the dangers of confinement and just how fast pets can die or suffer from heat stroke.
I have a couple of articles up at Ark Animals that talk about this topic. So feel free to search and read those tips and send in any that you might have.
Here in the mountains it doesn’t get as hot but it is very risky due to high altitude intensity of the sun and the arid conditions.
This often leads to dehydration and issues for both humans and animals.
Speaking of environment, the oil spill continues to rage out of control and I hope you caught some of the resources I posted at the blog (see below).
This “accident” is a big wake up call to how we really need to move away from fossil fuel dependency and hold big corporations accountable.
It just makes me sick. What do you think?

BTW, I posted a link to an article on poaching on the animal expert page on Facebook and am glad that one of you took the time to express your thoughts.
Some issues are so big that they don’t have a simple answer.
Anytime something really upsets me, I have to look at it closely.
I find that when something rocks the world of someone or really just irritates the snot out of people—there is something deeper that needs to be looked at.
So, I am pondering a post or series on the topic but wonder just how much some of you know or what you feel about this topic.
