Did you hear about the beavers who were given a death sentence because they chewed a few park trees?
Wow, how detached is that?
I’d say the fact that they even have beavers is a good thing. Humans are so removed from connection with nature these days–the story is a sad testimony to many people’s lack of understanding and concern over the nature world and what we, as a whole, are doing to it.
Fortunately, the public outcry changed everything. Check out this story about the Bakersfield beavers and the blog about the Kern River beavers that sparked some interest and a new blog with one post and 184 comments (when I checked). Here is the news clip video:
