Yes, people just seem to miss the personality piece. I actually defined social styles in What Animals Can Teach Us about Spirituality. There are people who call me in a panic over animals that don't fit in the box of what they think a particular breed (or species) should--they miss the whole piece. As a kid I used to tell folks that I was going to be a "marine mammalogist"! I was struck by your interest in getting people "to see the individuality of each animal they meet" - I could not agree more! It's frustrating when potential dog adopters insist on a certain breed because of a belief that "all labs are laid back and great with kids", etc. Animals aren't manufactured and yes, each one is as unique as each human.
